Ollie spelled the name of the town. It think he said something like "Samara" or something close to that.

They said Samarra, which is North ( and slightly West ) of Baghdad, about three quarters of the way on the highway to Tikrit.

btw....Ollie's chopper was shot down and a crew member was able to switch hoses for them to get airborne and get the hell out of there....pretty scary stuff when Ollie first reported it.

Ollie's helo went down due to a hose that got shot. Then the crew found another hose, cut it, and used it to splice the original hose. Ollie has indicated he was in "shock & awe" at the ability of the Marines to improvise. (He didn't use the S&A words).

I didn't know that a fire support team had charged in and surrounded them for defense until just now. Sounds like it was a very hairy situation.

I wonder if you ever get used to getting shot at. Ollie took some damage to his body in Nam. 2 times he was blown off of his feet from grenades and morter within a couple of minutes. The same guy rescued him both times. Ollie later testified on his behalf regarding a shooting of Vietnamese civilians. His buddy was acquitted of the charged.

MSNBC..is saying Marines rescued 6 or 7 POW's north of Baghdad.

No, he wasn't shot down today. He was saying that the div involved in the rescue today was also the unit that helped his helo out when it was shot down.

OK, from what I know Rick the FNC embed is supposed the same LAR that found these POWs? anybody know? if so he will get his frame of fame in the war, Kelly got it all earlier at Saddams palace.

Re: Ollie's chopper when it went down. Wasn't that on one of the first raids into Baghdad.

I know Greg's unit went into Bag on Saturday (their little "drive thru"). Then they went back in on Monday, but this time they parked at the Palace and stayed.

If I remember correctly, the time Ollie's chopper went down was the day Greg's unit did their drive-thru, Saturday. I remember we were all wondering "Where's Ollie?". We found out that night when he reported his chopper story.

I'll never forget seeing Rick on 9-11 when that huge cloud of smoke was rushing down the street after the building collapsed. Rick saw it, then told his crew to take cover.

Ollie said there were several units involved but he only specifically named one unit but I didn't catch which one he said.

Just remembered something. Tony Snow is supposed to have General Franks as his guest on Fox News Sunday. I bet we hear more about this when Tony has him on.

That might be one of the reasons why there is not a CENTCOM briefing this morning. Tony is at CENTCOM now.
