I had the VCR recording for the whole Sadler escapade into Tikrit. Gonna go back and replay and see at what point the "teacher" disappeared. It could have been a set-up.

LAUGH! My best friends are in the music biz, and *I* am...well, maybe not me, but someone perhaps who might be...um...okay quit while I'm ahead while preserving plausible deniability...involved in being a token conservative "gonzo" contributor for certain folks in Hollywood (and not for much money...heh...do we also share the very slim "starving CONSERVATIVE artist" minority demographic?). I feel your pain. I've lived in NYC (around NYU & Columbia kids), out here, in MA -- which is just sickeningly liberal -- school at Berkeley, which was at least "fun", about as fun as liberals get, and then back to MA and NYC.

Stuff you folks in Texas will never be able to understand. If only I could make you walk a mile in our shoes... ;-)

Worst part is, I bet, you have to shut your mouth and Uncle Tom it sometimes, dontcha? I know *I* have to keep my mouth shut about certain things doing what I do...or "silently agree" with a stupid opinion expressed by people who are responsible for giving me money and/or favors. You know whereof I speak. :p

What happened to *Amy* *Kellogg*...? :-)

That's a good question... Someone else has been reporting from Israel lately, I think -- or was that her a couple of days ago?

Anyone seen *Amy* lately?

I thought Shep made a good point, although he always gets carried away like a three-year-old and gets way far ahead of himself. I'm not saying "all journalists in the field are good", just -- "all journalists in the field aren't evil". If we start playing the "war profiteering" game we're starting to run around like the idiots on DU shouting about Halliburton contracts (OH yeah like Cheney would be that stupid :p). I would say I take a...er...tomazin. Tomazin on this issue. "The middle path". If there ever really truly is one. This is definitely one thing where I try not to paint everyone with the same brush -- because it's so tempting.

I don't think Shep should take back his defense -- he was getting emails saying, "Bleep all the journalists, what do we care," from couch potatoes...who are only watching Fox...because they have journalists out there. Again, he was like a three-year-old with it, but he's goofy like that (he's for the Left Coast demographic, I think) -- I love making fun of him, heh :p ("They spell in squiggles!" -- "Magical policemen!!"").

Anyway, you get what I'm saying. Those reporters who are out there sticking their necks out to get us news and not slanting things (badly -- everyone slants a little, it's the nature of the beast) -- I have the utmost admiration for; those who are purely glory-seeking and secretly hope the US gets knocked down a peg -- I have the utmost disdain for. I just don't want to tar all of them with the same brush.

What you said, however, bears repeating, and post links to it if you have them ready:

Yep, but CNN wasn't just cowardly, they were making money off the relationship, like all those American companies, German companies and Swiss banks who made money off the Nazis.

(does it have its own thread yet?)

I don't think so... They were still talking about him after they blew the checkpoint, but I think he split and went home to Mama as soon as they were no longer being pursued.

That's rank speculation, though -- who knows what those people are capable of dreaming up.

Of course, if it wasn't a set-up, and he "blew" the checkpoint with them, he's probably toast -- midnight visit, and all that...

Nod. Heather Nauert, I think, took up whatever Amy was doing, and while I *do* YUM YUM YUM Heather, I YUM YUM YUM Amy in a different (Marianne vs. Ginger) way, and pine for her return to my screen. ;-)

I don't know, it would be strange to have people agreeing with me, I might reflexively turn liberal -- I can't risk that. ;-)

I agree. Those who said that are dead wrong. OTOH, I believe Shep -- along with the rest of the media I to which I have access -- got carried away with the "we are the story" thing, and I told them about it. The "collateral damage" at the Palestinian was no worse than any other, and no greater story for Americans than the American soldiers and Marines killed that day. It was all we heard, though, for nearly twenty-four hours.

We're 100% on the same page with this one. I coulda puked after the CENTCOM briefing that day.

Curious -- anyone been over to "other" site? If so, any choice stuff they're spewing today? Always amused to hear their drivel and always reluctant to sign up and let them bogusly inflate user figures after I get banned for posting one sane comment. :p

are you saying Austin is *liberal*?

Barbra Streisand/Robert Redford, frothing-at-the-mouth liberal; San Francisco-on-the-Colorado, like.

Lloyd Doggett is our congressman...

Volvos and 3-cylinder Geos (all the Suburbans are in the suburbs :-).

City Council ordinance outlawing war in Iraq.

I just replayed it several times. It was when they went past that checkpoint that made me stop and watch again. They were following Fa'id (the teacher). And it was the teacher that flew past the checkpoint...they were just following. I wonder what would have happened had they simply stopped..? They didn't have a porblem getting IN the checkpoints. By the time they were attacked the second time (pistol fire) Fa'id was gone.

I don't know...the midnights visits may not last much longer. That teacher better wait until Tikrit is defeated before going back. that is... if it wasn't a set-up.

anyone been over to "other" site?

I've been spending a while there every day, figuring out new ways to sign up (they've finally figured out how to block IPS, so it's not as easy any more).

Today, though, the first thing I saw was a link to a sicko PhotoShopped picture of our First Lady reading to a dead Iraqi child. I closed the browser, and vented my feelings so loudly that my family all headed for the back yard, and I haven't been back. One hopes they have one sane mod who removed the picture -- but one doubts...
