No way to know why they did not stop, but had that stopped maybe they would not have drawn fire. Hard to know. Wish the heads would ask.

Shouldn't they treat the head wound further away... And is it serious?

Indeed, the call to run that checkpoint may have saved their lives...
CNN has lost connection with Sadler, although it looks like a legit sat. problem...

We can hope it was just from glass, rather than a bullet.

this seems unnecessarily risky.
reminds me of some old movie like Under Fire or Salvador.

Well, I HAVE been stating over and over and over what I wrote in 338. It really is startling how poorly the retired guys, so many of them, completely missed the ability our military now has with the hyper computerization we have all over the battlefield (including the home front and logistics).
Sheesh - THEY know that some unit or other is undergoing training/ manuveurs, etc. almost continuously. They KNOW we work these things over and over! THEY know there are hundreds of folks working on these problems, and can at least speculate about the ability of our present war-gaming styles. They realize this is happening in many places they have not remotely had contact with and HAVE to realize their impotence, I would think.
The guy who most blew me away with his "know-it-all" attitude was that totally silly Col.Hackworth Hannity liked to put on his show. No, I've got to amend "totally silly" - I must say "fool". I do not think there was a single thing he had any CONCEPT about ... I was always screaming at the radio when he was on ... sigh... He wasn't the only one, but he sure stood out. At least most of the others seemed to hedge their bets a little bit, but nevertheless, they were led astray, too.
I had a high Top Secret clearance. I know how omniscient I felt while I was in that position, and I really was. I got scared 2-3 times a month by things I heard were happening world wide. Most of those who have had this knowledge, and then lose it, seem somehow to be deluded that they still can figure it all out by closely following the NYTimes and WashPost, and a few of their "inside sources". I've never understood it, but they really do. The fact is, they CAN'T - they do NOT have that knowledge any more. It seems to take the best of them about 5 years to realize that. It more commonly takes 8-10 years. Some never do realize it, it seems.

Probably just saw hostile body language of some sort and immediately put the pedal to the metal. You sense those kinds of things.
