Sure is...
A friend of mine has kept up with 20 or so of his high school friends, and maintains a "current events" mailing list for them, and I've been privileged to be a part of it the last couple of years. Almost all of them are now _very_ comfortably retired -- smart, driven folks. Only 4 or 5 are leftist/liberal -- the rest are Republican or "small ell" libertarian (the "small ells" all vote Republican and support the war :-).
That 4 or 5, though, share the same hatred, bitterness, and don't-confuse-me-with-facts bigotry you see on DU. They say the most hateful, stupid things in their emails -- the best argument I've seen for giving 12-year-olds the vote; most are a lot more rational, and haven't fried their brains yet.
