Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!
Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...
1. In the Presidential Palace - we destroyed it
2. In a villa overlooking the Sea - we laughed about it
3. In Tikrit - we figured
4. In a 4-Star Restaurant in Baghdad neighborhood - we destroyed it
5. In a boat heading to Greece - we alerted the Coast Guard
6. In a Mosque - we sent Marines in to an ambush
7. In Syria - we believe it
This is becoming "Where's Waldo?"
NEXT ??
Did they stay up all night laying the tile and grouting? LOL!
For example, in the mid-1990's one of our Iraqi cameramen was abducted. For weeks he was beaten and subjected to electroshock torture in the basement of a secret police headquarters because he refused to confirm the government's ludicrous suspicion that I was the Central Intelligence Agency's Iraq station chief. CNN had been in Baghdad long enough to know that telling the world about the torture of one of its employees would almost certainly have gotten him killed and put his family and co-workers at grave risk.He doen't say whether anyone in the US CNN knew of all this.
The truth is coming out.....NY TIMES OP ED
Pro'lly not; the war itself ain't over - I'd guess that the live thread will stick around in some form for awhile. Once other news begins to overshadown the war, I'd figure the live thread will begin to dwindle somewhat in terms of size and "importance".
Live threads tend to pop up for all sorts of breaking events. If you've become addicted to FR, there's plenty to occupy your time once things on the war front die down.
At the (alternately) Circle K, 7-11, Piggly-Wiggly, local package store, flea market; either down by the river, on the other side of the trailer park, off the paved road....
Like the primaries...presidential debates...summer olympics...senate filibusters...
Jordan is more than a "bureau chief" for CNN - he's the head of all news gathering for CNN in all forms. The buck stops with him. If he knew, CNN knew, period. There's no weaseling out of this one for them.
