*** CHRONOLOGY OF SADDAM SIGHTINGS ***1. In the Presidential Palace - we destroyed it
2. In a villa overlooking the Sea - we laughed about it
3. In Tikrit - we figured
4. In a 4-Star Restaurant in Baghdad neighborhood - we destroyed it
5. In a boat heading to Greece - we alerted the Coast Guard
6. In a Mosque - we sent Marines in to an ambush
7. In Syria - we believe it
This is becoming "Where's Waldo?"

Fox just said that the mosaic of former President Bush, which was at the entrance to the Al Rasheed hotel (placed so people would walk on it) has been replaced witha portrait of Saddam! The Marines did it. Way to go, guys!

When Tikrit falls is that the end of the live thread? This has been a moving experience. Of course, I have not been moving a whole lot. FR is really addicting.
To: TomGuy
They aren't looting; they are taking the stuff for save keeping to keep someone else from looting it. lol.
The rationalization of the day quote, we have a winner! :)

Thanks for the link. I did read it and posted that we need to add Barbara Stanley to our list of good Barbaras.

That CNN bureau chief I mentioned above has written his story for the NY Times today. (I know...CNN and the NY Times? Sheesh!). But it's a compelling story of the atrocities he's seen by the Iraqi regime over many years, but couldn't report for concern that they would retaliate against the staff in Iraq.
For example, in the mid-1990's one of our Iraqi cameramen was abducted. For weeks he was beaten and subjected to electroshock torture in the basement of a secret police headquarters because he refused to confirm the government's ludicrous suspicion that I was the Central Intelligence Agency's Iraq station chief. CNN had been in Baghdad long enough to know that telling the world about the torture of one of its employees would almost certainly have gotten him killed and put his family and co-workers at grave risk.
He doen't say whether anyone in the US CNN knew of all this.
The truth is coming out.....NY TIMES OP ED

The good Barbaras...are you keeping the list? Can you post it?

When Tikrit falls is that the end of the live thread?Pro'lly not; the war itself ain't over - I'd guess that the live thread will stick around in some form for awhile. Once other news begins to overshadown the war, I'd figure the live thread will begin to dwindle somewhat in terms of size and "importance".
Live threads tend to pop up for all sorts of breaking events. If you've become addicted to FR, there's plenty to occupy your time once things on the war front die down.

He doen't say whether anyone in the US CNN knew of all this.Jordan is more than a "bureau chief" for CNN - he's the head of all news gathering for CNN in all forms. The buck stops with him. If he knew, CNN knew, period. There's no weaseling out of this one for them.
