Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help!  If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service™, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I believe it's people in Putin's own country that are controlling him. He doesn't have the courage to withstand the pressure. He just doesn't have the juice.

As far as he could go, I thought he spoke ok. I saw he gave the CNN reporter a kiss!

I surfed to CNN, too, but now Nic Robertson is on and Brit reminded us today that he's the reporter who "reported" on Saddam's most recent "election", first as if the thing was legit, and second referring to the "reverence" the Iraqis had for Saddam.

I'm torn whether to watch them or not in the face of the revelations of the bureau chief.

Now that would be cool - a 30 min show with na na na na and no voiceover, just freedom visuals!

You would think that by being in the KGB, Putin would have balls of steel. I've always thought that the KGB were pretty tough guys, but maybe that was an illusion for the rest of world.

Bill playing Na-na Hey hey goodbye to a great montage!!

Oh, wow! That brings back memories of the Freeper Inaugural Ball. There was a cutout of Wee Willy Wanker on the stage and at the very end of the ball, we sang that as we passed the cutout down and tossed it down the hall.

It was great! One of my favorite moments.

Any more word about those Iraqi officials saying that Saddam is dead? I saw a few posts about it back in the 1630's but I saw nothing else.

I don't know exactly how I feel about Putin right now. BUT, as much of a drunk that Yeltsin was, I don't see Putin able to stand up to those tanks like he did back in the early 90s.

Did you hear Combover say they took down their Saddam portrait at the Iraqi mission?!!

No--I missed that specific reference. Funny, because Eric Shaun on Fox last night had the camera show that through the window the portrait was clearly visible. Al Douri must have gotten word that he hadn't distanced himself enough yet.

I would have liked to have seen Al Douri take it and whack it with his shoe, though.
