Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!
Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...
Why are people poor? Why are they living in mud huts in slums???
These items were not accessible to the ordinary people, if you are suggesting why there wasn't a looting of the arms and an uprising. These caches were heavily guarded until the Coalition of the Willing arrived to save the day.
Bringing up Dr.Bob again, last week he showed a warehouse in the south that was filled with weapons AND stocked with lots and lots of food. He said the village around, the people were malnourished. Yet in the military barracks was stockpiled all of this food from the "food for oil" program. It had been taken and saved for the military. Not the regular citizens it was meant for.
This is the very thing those on the right have said for years and were mocked.
You have seen the palaces, right? Built with the oil money that the citizens reaped no profit from.
Yeah, that's what I thought also. But Beeb Dweeb said Red Cross. It was the Red Cross that had to abandon its convoy into Baghdad because it came under heavy fire and one of the workers was shot.
There was an incident early on when a young marine planted a US flag and got called out for it. DoD had to explain the next day saying it was just "youthfull exhuberance" and that it wouldn't happen again. I cringed as I watched the marine put the flag over saddams head the other day because I knew it would cause some flack.
I just heard that the UN ambassador Al-Douhri is flying to Syria. Why do I have a feeling we will see a Iraqi government in exile based there.
Me, too. In my next life I am going to come back much braver and be a war photographer.
He certainly deserves a VERY important prize for his reporting and photos.
Froggies! Youse have some 'splainin' to do...
