Can you enlighten me on the significance of this? I don't know much about heavy water, except that it's used in nuclear programs somehow.

Heavy water -- a water molecule with an extra neutron -- is harmless in itself, but it is used to slow down nuclear reactions, necessary for producing atomic bombs.
