For every suicide bomber attack in Iraq, we should drop a MOAB on Syrian targets.

I don't think that you are wrong about how much of a mess it is, but I think you know that your idea isn't gonna happen.

I don't know how it will turn out, and I am not sure it will "turn out" in my lifetime. I think if it will work to outwardly control the middle east into reformation, it will take more than a generation.

My worry is that Americans in particular have a short attention span, and a low tolerance for anything but immediate success.

I keep repeating this idea on various posts, so sorry if I sound like a broken record: Iraq is full of people who hate each other. Sometimes miracles happen and people can unite over the victory of a common enemy they all hate, but when they sit down tomorrow and try to actually figure out what to do next, it will not be smooth. They will need a mediator of incredible skill to work this out. Prayers for Colin Powell are needed now. I am glad he is with us (just try to imagine his predecessor) We very definately can't leave this place unguarded. Prayers that our country, and our media can be patient enough to weather the bumps without running for home on the first bad day.

We will have bad days. When we do, we either kill them all, wall them in, or try to be less crazy than they are and be smart and wise for the long term. And I don't even know what that means. I don't know if anyone does. We will make mistakes. After those mistakes, we will know more about it than we did before.

Just reported all four dead!

From listening to various reports on the radio I think there's a chance this is the Eighty-billionth time that "casualties" has mutated in "dead" in the media.

The more people in the media and outside the military a report goes through, the higher the chance casualties will be changed to "dead."

Suicide Bombing is the last resort of the doomed.... by its very nature it destroys the fighters of the resistance and solidifies the resolve of those they attempt to kill even further.

Japanese learned this the hard way, send your best pilots to die, and those that are left are shot down even easier.

The two firefights you list are the same one; I'm unaware of two different ones.

And my point is it is not at all obvious that anyone was killed in the suicide bombing, or if there was, it was four people. From the media reports its sounding like some media outlets are converting 4 casualties to 4 KIA.

I realize that we are still in the early stages, but this may be the first war in which we lose more in the rebuilding phase than during the actual fighting. I can't wait until we are able to turn this over to the Iraqi people.

Per Ollie North, almost all of the remaining resistance is from imported Arab Jihadists, NOT Iraqis...

I heard that the "martyr" signup booths in Egypt closed after the statue was pulled down yesterday. Apparently this was the FIRST LIVE IMAGE Egpytian television showed during the entire war. The sudden emergence of fact into the vicious and delusional Arab media coverage has apparently produced widespread shock.

Fewer useful idiots is good, but unfortunately this doesn't mean there won't be still be plenty of hate-driven jihadis murderers willing to destroy Iraqi peace for "the sake of Allah."

I too was holding my breath yesterday. Someone could have fired into the crowd as well as suicide bombers entering.
And it wasn't until this morning that I realized that there were only men at the "rally". What took me so long?

I read a post here this morning that said that saddam's inner circle are all from outside Iraq. Do you remember reading this? I'd like to revisit it as I've forgotten the names of the countries.

It might be disgraceful but anyone with intent on approaching our military should be told to strip naked.I'd rather be alive than ashamed.

I think we have to dress our checkpoint soldiers in body armor similar to what the bomb disposal cops/troops wear

Imagine wearing this in 115 degree heat.

It's good to see that the title of this thread was changed back (to the original).
