MSNBC's Bob Arnott: Iraqi Hospitals Filled Children with Gunshots - From Saddam's Fedeyeen

Bob Arnott was just on MSNBC reporting that he had traveled to many of the hospitals in the area and assisted in the care for the many children in the facilities that have been struck by gunfire (he's also a doctor). He said he was unsure what the mood in the hospitals would be but found the doctors and patients to be "ecstatic" that Saddam was gone. He then said that the gunshots were all made by small caliber weapons that the U.S. Army does not have and, when he inquired further about the cause of the wounds, he was told by parents and hospital staff that the paramilitary forces were shooting kids on purpose to make it look like the U.S. forces were inflicting civilian casualties.

I suspect some of these shootings were done by the fighters that came in from Palestine, Jordan, Syria and Iraq and other Arab nations. We need to kill every one of these foreign terrorists.
They are not legitimate combatants. They are terrorists and should be executed summarily. No surrenders for them.

oh, sure, I can see it now: exposing our children to paleolithic art inculcates in them the culture of violence, causes emotional trauma and life-long psychological scarring, causes racism and eurocentrism, leads inevitably to Columbine...

It's true! I have forty-three different studies all by the same guy that prove it! And if he wasn't in jail for raping children, he'd tell you this too!

The anti-American, anti-Bush left provides tacit support for these murdering thugs.
Pathetic.

*Perceived threat to survival and the belief that one's captor is willing to act on that threat
*The captive's perception of small kindnesses from the captor within a context of terror
*Isolation from perspectives other than those of the captor
*Perceived inability to escape.Sounds like the IRS.

Point taken; but have you ever seen what an exit wound from and M16 looks like? I have. Looks like a .22 going in and like a 105mm coming out. I'd hate to imagine a child shot with one of those at close range.

If the Iraqi people can make their new found independence work, they will find that freedom and liberty are their best friends.

"Barf alert" on
posting #32 applies to the source of the info, not the info. I suspect the syndrome is valid, but I also imagine it would be easy to snap someone out of the Stockholm Syndrome, by (1)explaining to the person that the feeling of bonding with the captor or dictator is natural, (2) they need to resist and get over the feeling for their own safety and (3) they can
choose not to be a victim by the way they react. Similarly to the way people have to deal with a death in the family, perhaps.
...since you asked.

It definitely stands to reason that weak people are the ones who would get the "Stockholm Syndrome", by definition, actually.
Where do children growing up in a dictatorship their entire lives come into the equation, though. They may actually be brainwashed. Likewise with captives kept in a drugged state for a very extended period, they may also need some form of deprogramming. But I do not see how a normal person can not choose to snap out of this.

Thanks for your answer, TR. I tend to agree with your hypotheses. I'd also add that the emotional impact however, is likely to 'want to' linger, with continued anxiety, depression, suspicion, and a focus upon self-preservation.

Looks like a .22 going in Yeah- guess I was just drawing attention to the phrase "small calibre"- thought it was kind of meaningless- for the reason you gave.

The Leftist's rallies this weekend are changing. This weekend they will not mention "Mumia" or "oil". This weekend they will be attacking ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and CNN for broadcasting "half-truths" and for bending over for the white house. They have signs ready that personally attack some of their best buddies-Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, etc. They are will soon be focussing their efforts on trying to intimidate the media into becoming "liberal" again.
Their stated goal will be to win converts, particularly on campuses. They will be handing out surveys that read like information sheets asking people to thoughtfully reconsider their position as a conservative, on the grounds that the media has been lieing to them, and on the grounds that they have become conservative and are supporting the president based on these media lies.
They also will be adding entertainment and food (never met a college student who would turn down free food, even if it comes with a little brainwashing).
Please spread this message so that our young conservatives are not caught off guard.
