Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!
Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...
I've put up a web page of todays screen caps (photo's). The page may be slow loading for modem connections because it has an MP3 file player. Give it a few seconds to load. You can shut the player off once it loads. If it causes problems, I'll take the player off. Traffic to the site may make it worse. I am in excess of my 5 meg limit, so Alltel can shut the site down without notice. For the cubicle bound and pic-grabbers:

Just email him back and say, "Thanks... Wanker..."
This frightens me for our troops. Remember the school where the WMD were supposedly buried under a hastily-poured concrete slab? Did you ever see the excavation of that site?
I work in the Hazardous Materials field. It is SOP to suit up when you go into an UNKNOWN chemical environment. The troops that were digging that concrete slab up weren't wearing any respirators, no gloves, no eye protection, etc.
All it would have taken is one backhoe scoop into the side of a 55-gallon drum of the wrong stuff... and then every one of them could have been dead.
As it turned out, they "said" there was no smoking gun. LOL... but my point is not whether or not they found anything... it's that they were investigating an UNKNOWN but suspected WMD site. They MUST wear full MOP gear when investigating WMD sites. They can always dress down after the initial investigation... but you can't go back once you've been exposed.
Don't worry about that until your glasses get too thick.
Nam Vet
