Ex-FBI Agent Arrested

A retired FBI agent who was in charge of Chinese counter-intelligence in California is under arrest, sources told ABCNEWS.

The former agent was identified as James Smith. He was being held in connection with his former job, sources said, but the charges were not immediately available.

Sources said Congress was being briefed on the arrest before it is announced to the public, which was expected to happen later today.

Department of Justice officials declined to comment on the case.

Smith retired in from his job in the bureau's Los Angeles office in 2000.

Well, I'm making a leap based on this guy's name, but I'll hazard a guess he's a generic white guy.

For all the hullabaloo over Muslims in the military, etc., it's instructive to note that our biggest, truly damaging traitors (Aldrich Ames, the Walker Family, Hansen, etc.) have mostly been nondescript, non-ethnic types.

Dr James Smith is researching into chemical & mathematical biology and computational pharmacology in the Unilever Cambridge Centre for Molecular Informatics (UCCMI), Department of Chemistry. Between 1996 and 2000, James Smith carried out doctoral research within the Drug Design Group, Department of Pharmacology, exploring the molecular recognition and discrimination of nucleotide receptors. Before 1996, he had developed research interests in molecular and cellular biochemistry in both the University of Oxford Department of Biochemistry and the Nuffield Department of Pathology and Bacteriology (now the Nuffield Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences) at The Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford

All of the children are finding their own niche in the world. The oldest son is an FBI agent in California. One of the married daughters worked as an investment banker in Massachusetts. The second daughter left a career as a Social Worker to become a stay-at-home mother in New Jersey. The third daughter is single and is a practicing attorney in the Virgin Islands. (Father and daughter partnered in a law practice in New Orleans before she took a job opportunity in the Virgin Islands). Mr. Smith’s youngest child lives at home while he attends college at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.
