Heads down, shoulders slumped - leaving the war, quitting.
Walking quickly - in a specific direction/jaywalking, or heads up and panning and looking around, defiant, tense: going to war. Look at photos of troops in the landing gear going into D-Day, or marching forward in WWII.

Odd you should say that...most going from right to left are slumped and those going from left to right are straight up and scanning the area. Not as many of them now as there was earlier though.
