Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...

"I think "Tikrit Timmy" has a better sound to it.No, that doesn't "sing" as the Green Beret said in that movie a long time ago.
"Tikrit Tommy" sounds better - and reminds me of Dasshole's lies also.

Need an enterprising FReeper with Photoshop to PUT A U.N. FLAG IN THE COLLAPSED SADDAM STATUE'S HAND and post it!

Yeah, but if Iraqis were watching his webcam broadcasts, he made the right call.
*I* wanted to strangle him. I can't imagine what an Iraqi would do to the guy :)

Iranians have been protesting (in hte millions!) for several months now, just waiting for this regime to fall.
As long as Saddamn was in power next them, they couldn't change or he would invade again.
Now......?

To paraphrase the irrepressible Colonel Hunt: "They're filling up the toilets in Teheran...and Damascus." >>>
You mean Col Joe Pesci?

Iran will implode by itself. Syria and especially North Korea are due for regime change.
To: TomGuy
I'm guessing that Chirac has changed the channel in disgust, and is watching old Jerry Lewis reruns. Iraqis greeting coalition troops as liberators was his worst nightmare.

Your children are fortunate to see this today. They will never forget their feelings of seeing it with you, as they become adults in 'their' century.

God bless you Sandy and God bless the USMC. My father-in-law is an Iwo Jima Marine and my daddy was a Corpsman. Thank you for your sacrifice and your willingness to serve.

Speaking of the French, is the Finance ministry still burning?
To: Starrgaizr
It is a great day for free men everywhere, and a day of hope for the oppressed.

"Tikrit Tommy" sounds better - and reminds me of Dasshole's lies also. I agree -- and the Daschlepp angle is too good to let go. Tikrit Tommy it is.
