Why do you need to have the media make moral judgments for you?

I don't need the media to make judgments on my behalf, at least not moral judgments. I'm prefectly capable of making my own judgments. I'm sure you are too.

The media doesn't need to "equate" anybody's version of events with any body elses.

The media just needs to put all the relevant players on the table, be open about who they are, what they have to gain or lose from what they are saying, explain why they put this player as opposed to that player on the air or in print.

If you are looking for the media to make moral judgments on your behalf, you are setting yourself up to be manipulated and stage managed.

I don't have any problem with "the search for truth." I take myelf to be a full partner in that search. I don't want to be spoon fed. I don't want to be feed self-serving spin from either side as if its truth. I don't need the media to ENDORSE this side or that side, just present them, critically, neutrally, fairly, openly, and fully. Present lots of arguments on all sides. Put people on criticizing each other's arguments.

Tell the story from the left, from the right, from the center, upside down and backward, while making it clear what angle is operating when.

Selecting the relevant players and telling us who they are and what they have to lose or gain involves a lot of judgment, and much of this judgment has to do with morality. It's inevitable for the media to make moral judgments in the course of their reporting.

I don't need the media to make moral judgments for me, but they do make moral judgments on their own behalf, and those judgments may be right or wrong.
