Jonathon Alter, Newsweek, is speculating it could have been an Iraqi tank that fired on the Hotel. There would be no reason for the US to fire on the Palistine Hotel (Alter)

I'm not an armorments expert, but it seems to me that a tank would do more than scratch the paint. Anyone think maybe the iraqis fired a shell at the hotel?

I wouldn't doubt the Iraqis had something to do with this one. Al-Jazeera reporting "the Americans are trying to shut our mouths."

I heard that too. That might work if our ground forces were nowhere near there, but now it would be hard for them to show anti American BS with us controling the whole area. It would have been counter productive for us to attack them on purpose now.

He was alive yesterday when our tanks were right across the river, and he didn't pull the plug.

Oh yes he did. That's why all the Western BagCams were down during the ENTIRE US excursion into downtown. Remember? We were all dying to see pictures, when we KNEW we were in the middle of some big action, and none of the BagCams were working. The only footage was from the Arab channels (not subject to the same rules as Western journalists, and no "minders"), or our own imbedded reporters. Not until the US had left the city did we start seeing BagCam footage. (Or has my memory completely failed me?)

It has to be a set up. I thought it odd earlier tonight when they started setting up tents on the front lawn for the press; it guarantees lots of people milling around to make a better picture for the camera.
