I have never said I am making a reasoned argument. I am speculating. And not from the information in the tabloids (show me the post where I reference a tabloid or information IN a tabloid -- show it to me -- I don't read the tabloids).

I am SPECULATING. Grab a dictionary and look it up. My gut tells me: This story reeks; something's rotten. That's the sum total of my "knowledge". I have a right to my opinion.

Now, where are you getting all your *facts*, which you insist you have? Mr. Smart himself? I have never asserted I am doing anything but speculating; you have insisted you are speaking the capital-T truth and flaming a lot of us harshly in the process for daring to commit the thought crime that the poor girl might have run away. So where are *your* facts? I'm not trying to prove anything -- just openly speculate without being flamed and tarred as some kind of Reno-loving Mormon-hater.

Do you have anything better in your rhetorical arsenal than ignoring what people say, flaming people with REALLY lame insults (to which they don't respond), calling people bigots, whatnot?

It is glaringly obvious that you have some kind of agenda here. I do not. I am merely trying to speculate in peace. This, apparently, is a crime punishable by death in your very odd little world.

Why...are you so *defensive*, friend, if all the facts back you up, and I'm purely speculating, and have admitted it multiple times? ;-)

You are VERY silly. :-)

Elizabeth Smart Well Hidden In Mitchell’s Mountain Hideout

The camp where Elizabeth Smart was held for months

The structure was well hidden and designed to be nearly invisible from the air even with high-tech detection equipment.

For weeks Elizabeth Smart was held in a camp in the mountains about three miles from her home. You've seen the view from the air, now we want to show you what this area looks like from ground.

Rod Decker hiked to the makeshift hideout where Elizabeth spent all that time.

What you can tell from the lean-to is that Brian Mitchell put a lot of work and planning into his alleged scheme to kidnap Elizabeth Smart.

The lean-to is dug into the mountainside and covered with brush. You can see the trees all around and you can see the brush on the roof. The lean-to is hard to spot until you're right on top of it.

To start with, Mitchell dug a trench in the hillside about six feet deep. He put up posts to hold the roof. He wrapped the feet of his posts in plastic and duct tape to keep them from rotting. He made careful cuts in the uprights to fit them to his roof beams. He used smaller branches for roofing.

On top of the roof, he put several layers of plastic sheeting and then a plastic ground cloth to keep it dry.

Even Friday with the melting snow, it was dry inside. It's not too comfortable. I don't think I'd want to spend more than a day in here, Decker said.

Elizabeth Smart was kept here weeks, at times; her leg was chained to one of the poles.

Helicopters flew over these canyons searching with infrared equipment. Mitchell and the two women were dug into the ground with a roof over them, so the their body heat didn't show up.

Food and building materials had to be carried in and a nearby spring supplied water.

Searchers came up the canyon. Elizabeth Smart thought she heard their voices. But she was chained in the hideout, 150 yards up that gulch and they couldn't see her for the trees.

Officials suspect the structure took weeks to build, and was carefully designed to avoid detection. It explains how she was so close, yet was never spotted by hundreds of searchers.

So do you read story like this and assume that Elizabeth ran away and set this whole thing up?

Mitchell May Have Planned to Kidnap Girl in California

One suspect in the Elizabeth Smart abduction may have planned another kidnapping in California. Brian Mitchell is suspected of plotting to kidnap another young girl in San Diego.

Thursday, the girl's father talked about his contact with Mitchell. Brian Mullahy has more.

Mitchell came to Virl Kemp's LDS ward in California one Sunday. He had shed his robe, for blue jeans and a plaid shirt put his beard and long hair in ponytails.

Mitchell, the former Mormon, it's said, acted like an outsider, interested in investigating the faith.

Kemp thought he'd oblige so he invited Mitchell over for lunch, with two full-time LDS missionaries. They talked religion and ate chicken, pork chops and apple cake.

Kemp says his 12-year-old daughter wasn't home at the time.

"She never saw him. She was away for the weekend. When she was here I don't know if he saw her or not," said Virl Kemp.

Now Mitchell's wife, Wanda Barzee, has told investigators Mitchell went back to the Kemp house, to kidnap the girl.

When he got there, the door was locked and he took that as a sign he was not meant to take the girl, investigators said.

I thought I would repeat that sentence in case you missed it and also started accusing this girl of wanting to run away with Mitchell.
