I've heard it said before, I've challenged those to come up with a link, and no one has been able to do so, citing "other threads" where they read it.

My suspicion is that Tom Smart may have at one time said it was a "beauiful story" the way everyone has been supported, and pitched in to help find Elizabeth. And that remark was taken out of context and spun by folks on FR who cannot STAND the truth that bad things happen to good people, and want to make something sordid and evil out of the actions of a good, solid and god-fearing family.

"I believe that this person is not a bad person at all. And our family has felt strongly for a while. And there's been a comfort here for a while. This is just somebody who actually likes Elizabeth. You have that precisely right, Illbay. The same distortion was going on when it happened, like it somehow proved she was sold into a polygamous cult or something.
