SINGAPORE (Reuters) - The dollar steadied at a 10-day high and Asian stocks firmed on Monday as markets priced in a swift end to the Iraq war after U.S.-led forces fought their way to the center of Baghdad.

Safe-haven assets like gold and bonds were sold off while oil prices fell sharply in the belief that Iraqi crude could soon return to the world market.

Markets appeared transfixed as U.S. tanks attacked and took over part of Saddam Hussein's presidential palace in central Baghdad.
