MSNBC reporting from Oakland CA. Oakland police use concussion grenades and rubber bullits against anti-war protesters at dock apparently used to ship out war supplies.Don't show the uprisings. Don't show Saddam's fall from power. Don't show the shock and awe of the speed and brilliance of this campaign. Show the protesters. Right. War protests are equally as historic as what's happening in Iraq. Good job.
From the Agonist:
Urban warfare being reported by Reuters: Iraqi snipers crouched behind bridges and artillery fire rang out from almost every direction on Monday as Iraqi forces defended Baghdad against U.S. troops who had thrust into the heart of the city.
The urban warfare that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein promised the invading forces finally began as dozens of U.S. tanks rumbled into the city of five million people and entered two presidential compounds on the west bank of the Tigris.
"Iraqi forces are blocking streets all over town and their artillery is in action," Reuters correspondent Samia Nakhoul said. "The Iraqis are definitely fighting back."

Whether or not to use chem gear is up to lower-level commanders in the field...based on many factors, according to CENTCOM. They're all very aware of the potential dangers.

My dog just told me she couldn't hold it any more and demanded I let her out to pee.

funny how we are no longer getting a steady media diet of protests since:
1. they are now pretty small and pathetic and
2. the war is well on it's way to being won so the media coverage can no longer stall/discourage/prevent it.
maybe the rubber bullet thing will get play but this type of coverage no longer supports the media's agenda and strategy.

Neither is the Agonist
Dan Abrams incredulous that coalition forces may have found Chem weapons. "This could be the justification that the US so far has not had to conduct this war." Putz.
More non-prayer loudspeaker action on the CBS cam. What is that guy saying?
Diane Sawyer reported this morning that there are approx. FIFTY presidential palaces.

Love this photo from Diogenesis' thread! Some of the good guys taking a much needed break in ol' Saddam's bedroom!
This photo reminds me of an Impressionist painting. It is so cool.

Hey, Howlin, some of us have to sleep! I was SHOCKED when I checked in at 5:30 CDT and saw how many posts were on the new daily thread! FReepers never sleep!<<<<
Ain't it the truth. I was in bed watching Fox when they blew up the statue, and had to get back online at that point to join in the revelry over same. It was a wildly entertaining night.

Now they are singing their prayers.
