That is what I was thinking. I thought the Russians had pulled out over 2 weeks ago. Why were they still there? Why didn't they notify Centcom that they were leaving?
Most importantly, why go to SYRIA rather than to Northern Iraq or to the south, where US and coalition forces are? Why the dash to Syria?
The only thing I can think of is that there are people in that convoy that do not want to fall into US hands.

I'm not sure these people were really diplomats. We know the Iraqis have been getting military instructions from Russians, that's who these people were. If Saddam is alive, he's been in that Russian embassy. If still alive, was with them on their attempted jaunt to Syria.

Out of all of those, we have public or private support or tolerance from every country EXCEPT Syria, right?
