Fox - Rick Levanthal reporting live. Two marines heart 2km away from Rick Levanthal's location. He was at the scene and apparently one of two Cobra's fired on a LAV that was parked next to a berm. Shrapnel wounds. One could walk, the other was slightly more wounded. There are many heavy Iraqi vehicles in the area that've been set to be destroyed.
CBS Bag-cam - Heard an A-10 firing, huge boom

On a side note, why in the heck was the Russian ambassador still in Baghdad? I thought they had pulled everyone out a couple of weeks ago.
And, if he elected to stay, why was he leaving NOW?
And, if he was leaving, don't you think they could have notified Centcom so that the convoy was protected?
So, we have Russians hanging around when we thought they were gone, at this late date when the regime is about to fall the Russians decide to skedaddle in a convoy, and they leave without notifying Centcom.
My guess is that they were trying to get some people out of Baghdad before it falls. I would like to know who all was in that convoy.

Here's another tidbit or two from a second thread - at least they're not blaming the US specifically:
"Russian Ambassador Vladimir Titorenko was in the convoy, which was heading for Syria, Interfax news agency said. It was unclear who attacked the convoy.
Russia has been an outspoken opponent of the U.S.-led war against Iraq, and last week summoned the U.S. ambassador to protest against an air raid on a Baghdad suburb which houses the Russian embassy."

here is a stupid question .. way were they leaving .. why don't stay where they were at .. or better yet .. go to the hotel where all the reporters are
But to leave in the middle of a battle? .. that is not smart

SkyNews has the scare quotes in the wrong place - it should probably read: Fleeing Russian 'Diplomats' Attacked
Could be that the military advisors decided it was time to bail and found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. Gee - too bad.

According to Baghdad Bob: 50 US dead. 16 Tanks out of commission. So now he's reporting OUR news to us? We already know there are 50 US KIA. What is his point? Did he mention that out of those 50, way more than half are due to accidents (drowning!), friendly fire, etc? Sheesh.

Ha! Going to Syria, not the Kurdish areas or south to where the US has troops! I thnk I am right!

N Korea slams Security Council
06apr03
NORTH Korea has accused the US of using UN Security Council discussions of its nuclear program as a "prelude to war" and warned that it would strengthen and fully mobilise its forces.
"The UNSC's handling of the nuclear issue on the peninsula itself is precisely a prelude to war," a North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement.
North Korea will not recognise any resolution to be adopted at a UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday, he said.

My guess is that they were trying to get some people out of Baghdad before it falls. I would like to know who all was in that convoy. Now that would make some sense because I thought Russian Gov. pulled their people out of Iraq like a week before the war started

Baghdad Bob:
"yesterday night we struck the enemy with missile strikes around the airport...our units from the Republican Guard are still thrusting the enemy and chasing it in the area of Saddam International airport" "We have destroyed 6 tanks and we have rendered useless another 10 of the enemy tanks, and we have killed 50 - five zero - of the soldiers. We have shot down 2 Apache helicopters south of Baghdad... We have destroyed 3 personnel armored carriers and 5 tanks on the outskirts of baghdad. Those 5 by the Fedayeen, and 1 shuttle has been destroyed. Also, 2 tanks have been destroyed and 3 personnel armored carriers south of Baghdad by the Al Kuts army. 2 tanks destroyed in Basra..."
"Have observed closely, since we pushed them out of Saddam International Airport yesterday, the continuation of the battle showed that when we crushed them at the airport and they repeated back, we continued bombing them, and they withdrew deeper. When we stopped bombing, they pushed forward certain units to the front, only for the sake of propaganda and just hollow, empty, it has no military significance, only to show they're in the Airport area. Whenever we attack them they retreat, and when we pound them with missiles and heavy artillery, they retreat deeper."
