These are simple God-fearing people. Indeed. But can someone with knowledge tell me whether or not the Army assigns a liason officer who should have informed them of this BEFORE they appeared before the kennel.

I have to agree with you. Since it was known that the family was getting in front of the press, it seems they should have been prepped for the situation.
What advantage was there in not sharing the info about the 507th with the family? None, that I can see.

Why don't you contact the Department of Defense and ask Donald Rumsfeld, Gen. Richard Myers or Torie Clark?
