The Detroit Free Press reported the Baghdad Airport was under siege. What could that possibly mean? They also described the battle for Baghdad as erupting as if it were unplanned.

I believe that Saddam was convinced that pick up trucks with mounted machine guns was the way to defeat the US Forces since it worked so well in Somalia. He did not reckon that under Bush unlike Clinton we would not take away the support of heavy armor, artillery and a full array of Air support for our forces. In other words, Saddam was not dealing with an incompetent leader this time.

You start with gun control--to disarm the populace. Then you create a band of thugs (feydaheen/gestapo ATF/DEA) to enforce order. Then you can starve the people and use the nation's oil wealth (institute socialized medicine, tax top 10% wage earners, create hate thought crimes, cripple education at its foundation and throw money at it as a cure) for your personal use. Make the people dependent on you for even their daily food.

Good observation... I don't believe they have. The last one I saw on FNC was the same pic I was seeing on NTV at the time.

Yes, he was on for a short time today, I think around noon. He still sounded very tired and a little down since he worked the medivac helos and their very quite a few casualties. He was full of admiration for his Marines.
