It's fake; people are not allowed to TOUCH Saddam.......EVER

That's exactly what I thought when I saw this! When that man came up from behind and grabbed his arm, then another tapped him on the shoulder, I said "NO WAY"! Then I saw a video when he was high-fiving those men. Yeah, right, Sadaam would be doing that!

Later in the tape, as the camera pans out, you can see a ring of uniformed goons circling the crowd. This was a set up with a bunch of the Fedayeen and one of the body doubles. Apparently he wasn't clued in exactly how to act, or he just got into it a little too much.

I see, I thought you were arguing in the opposite direction.

Regardless of who the people in the pictures are, I still think that Saddam is probably alive. The bedsheet in the earlier video seems an unlikely backdrop for a pre-prepared presidential speech. Also, if Saddam were dead, wouldn't we see signs of a power struggle? And wouldn't Tariq Aziz have fled?

Who would be so suicidal as to want to have power now??

History suggests that there's always somebody. In fact, there are always at least two people ready to fight in any power vacuum.

If nothing else, if they're convinced that the war is lost, they'll be fighting over who gets to overthrow the Saddam regime and surrender to the coalition, the hope being that the Americans would let that person serve as a puppet leader in a post-war Iraq.

But none of this seems to be happening, so it suggests that Saddam may still be alive. On the other hand, I suppose it's possible that Saddam is dead and that the Iraqi government is just in complete disarray.

I do not believe
there was any power struggle
to succeed Hitler
after he shot himself
in his bunker.

What about Tariq Aziz? If Saddam were dead, his political position wouldn't be too secure, to say the least. Wouldn't he be trying to make a deal with the Americans, or flee, or go into hiding?

Aziz is under some pressure.
I assume you know
that his son had been in prison
and later was released.
Even with Saddam dead
there would be plenty of his henchmen
with the means to keep Aziz
in line.

Yes, I presume that Aziz has been under a huge amount of strain for a long time. It's a mistake to expect anything like rational behavior out of any of these people at this point. One would think that some of them would be panicking and getting out, though. What kind of psychological state are they in?

"What is it with your people? I am fine! We have kicked all the American infidels out of Iraq and have started invading Israel."

CNN has hired this woman who has an accent and looks to be from the Middle East (I am not sure where). She makes it very obvious where her true sympathies are.

The CNN guy in Kuwait City is always trying to bring her back to earth, such as: "Well, that may be, but ..."
