Eh, I agree it's pretty big but it's not totally unthinkable...and it's not as big as the commander of an Army Division being relieved by a Marine commanding the operation as a whole during the middle of combat during the Saipan invasion in 1944...now THAT was a s***storm of immense proportions.

You mean when H.M. Smith relieved Ralph Smith? I forgot where it was... but yes, it did cause a commotion! And then there was Roy Geiger, USMC, who took over 10th Army CORPS on Okinawa when the doggie general was killed by a jap sniper... The army broke all records getting a new general there!
