She wasn't the car bomber. The car bomber was the taxi driver. She came out of the taxi screaming in fear (they don't know whether she was a human shield or part of the plan) and it drew the troops towards her. That's when the taxi driver set off the bomb.

After the first cup of coffee, I've got to go out and run the snow blower on the driveway. Ugh! I was thinking about putting that thing in the shed. This winter will never end.

I only know of this reporting via YOUR reporting, all the FReepers..

But I am wondering if he has lost some "new friends" on the field in the past few hours. Local radio stating causalities in past few hours.

These embeds have befriended & "peered" with many of the troops.

Hadn't seen the report that the bodies were burned. Still think we will find out that they are our POW's, but that is just my Opinion - I pray I am wrong.

I've got some interesting facts about Mr Blix, but they don't add up.

Per Ahlmark, former Dep. Prime Minister of Sweden makes the math even more interesting in a Wall Street Journal article from January, 2003:

"Indeed, in 1999, Mr. Ekéus made the shortlist for Mr. Blix's current position but was vetoed by Russia, then France. As the former chief U.N. weapons inspector, Richard Butler, writes in his book, "Saddam Defiant," the Russians were taking marching orders directly from Baghdad. In Mr. Butler's book, Ambassador Sergei Lavrov is quoted as saying that Russia "blocked the Ekéus nomination because Iraq did not want him!" He goes on to say that all appointments were to be treated the same way -- approval from Iraq was mandatory. When Hans Blix's candidacy was discussed, no veto arrived from Baghdad.

With the go ahead from Saddam, Russia and France threw their support behind Mr. Blix and he was soon approved by the Security Council. The Clinton administration seems to have been too paralyzed by the Monica Lewinsky scandal to put up a fight. Thus, you could say that Hans Blix was handpicked by the very regime he was to inspect and disarm."

Last night as we were heading into Baghdad, not knowing what our guys faced, and Togo West showed up on FoxNews - I almost cried. FR war fatigue...

Giving equal time to today's Dems. is like giving equal time to Al Jazeera, or "Joe the village liar." (^;

Catspaw, I think the crappy weather you had yesterday has traveled south. It's rainy and gross out.

We still have the crappy weather. It's just spread south. If you've got black ice conditions, don't even think about driving. Two people in our area were killed in traffic accidents caused by the icy conditions. It's nasty.

I am not to the end of the thread yet, but I want to comment on Steffie's "heat of the campaign" comment.

If you will remember, the press spent an inordinate amount of time about Bush's open mike comment about Adam Clymer being an "a**h*le." That was a not-for public, imrpomptu, overheard comment.

Yet Steffie is saying that this DELIBERATE comment, made TWICE, is to be expected in the heat of the campaign.

I do not accept this level of hypocracy, and I am going to dog any media person who tries to get away with it. It was malicious, shameful, and too-clever by half (stolen from a Harrison Ford comment, so also plagiaristic).

Kerry is finished, in my opinion.

First post... had to sign up because I couldn't keep my mouth shut any longer.

Two things:
1. Right after CentCom briefing, I saw a video of a downed Blackhawk being loaded onto a Semi truck in a city; lots of Iraqis walking around, speaking Arabic. It was a Reuters feed. No other info, short clip.

2. After that, the feed switched back to the Baghdad cam, and audio of a female reporter. She had interviewed people in town - "What do you think of the Coalition surrounding Baghdad?" She said half or more of the replies were "I don't believe they are here. And even if you showed me photos, I would think they were fabricated." Another person she interviewed lived near the Airport. He said it was "quiet" in his neighborhood and he wasn't worried, but his daughter and mother were. (So much for the bombing of civilian neighborhoods by the Coalition.)

Tinfoil hat alert:

I was just passing through ABC, Good Morning America. Get this.

They had a "Live" report from Richard Engle. This was 2 minutes ago. He was standing in front of the exact view we have on the BagCam. I turned up the volume to see if I could hear him filing his report....nothing but car horns.

Sooooooo. At ABC, when it says "Live" on the screen....it's not?

My closest friend's husband died in a car fire. They used dental records to ID him. It was grim.
