"we keep seeing the tanks with at least one man up top outside the hatch. Does he stay up there, even in battle? I always thought they all hunched down inside. Yes, and no.
See, it's very hard to see clearly looking out through the reflector/periscopes that ring each hatch. yes, you can see, but not real weel. Side vision is gone, the "big picture" is gone. (Imagine trying to drive if you could see, but only through a rolled up cardboard tube.) The image viwers (TV/low-light TV/infrared) are better, but they too aren't as clear as sticking your head out. Against tanks. It's not much more dangerous - since their shells are so large the tank blast protection is only good against the specific point that the shell hits (assuming a sabot type penetrating round.) Against a HEAT round, the closed hatch would protect you much better. Against infantry? YOU GOT TO BE BUTTONED UP. Else a grenade or machine gun can get you. That's why tanks work with friendly infantry against enemy infantry. The friendly troops keep the enemy troops far enough away that the tank is protected. In turn, the tank kills enough enemy infantry far enough away that friendly infantry can stay safe(r).

There must be a serious fire off to the right of the CBS cam's picture.

MSNBC cam went to test pattern!

When it was dark the Flash to report ratio was about 15-20 seconds.. so the explosions are about 3-4 miles away .. figure our guys are a little outside that, but moving closer every minute.

I hope all those M1s and Bradleys have exact change for the toll booths. I would hate to think of our boys getting a ticket while trying to serve their country ;)

MSNBC just died.

Then those rifle/artillery reports probably are from us, mostly.

I got the J.Lo tape. I think I saw that live. Shemp maintained his composure very well. I lecture in front of large groups 16-20 hours a week. Over the last 22 years I have made several freudian slips that were rather embarassing. All you can do is turn beet red and laugh.

That's odd. I hear the birds, horns, papers shuffeling, but no gunfire.

Not saying anything --March 11--
"I was at a meeting and became aware that I had nothing of any interest to add to the discussion. So I said nothing, and the discussion continued."

Fox - the Saddam billboard as you enter the city has been leveled, Shep believes.
To: Poser
CBS seems to have the best sound most of the time.
