Southeast Baghdad is dominated by Shia. This was a good move, considering the evil rumored to be visited upon them by the Baathists.

Taking these older neighborhoods is the Iraqis worst nightmare. Takes the only advantage (close urban combat) away from them because those are the best neighborhoods for that type of fighting.

Much of the rest of Baghdad is wide streets, tall office buildings and modern housing complexes that allow for easy pickins' for anyone with a scope.

Now it makes sense why the Marines did that sudden veer to the right.

Here we are watching a traffic cam in a enemy captiol as OUR TROOPS mass on its outskirts......amazing times we live in huh??
