CNN just annouced that Muslims in and around D.C. will be protesting the war in Iraq today -- and they will have a news conference.
That should be interesting, as Bush is meeting with Iraqi American at the White House in favor of the war today at the White House.

Nope, it's now southeast of Badhdad, maybe in Kut.
I wish they'd get it correct before they report this stuff.

The US speculation that Iraqi's would use the blackout as an opportunity to bomb civilians and blame the coalition seems to be correct:
Moscow - Iraqi Ambassador refutes seizure of Baghdad airport
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/884726/posts "At the same time he stressed that the US and UK troops conducted sorties over dwelling districts in Baghdad. In particular, on April 3 the coalition used cluster bombs when struck Al Dora dwelling district in Baghdad, injuring many civilians."

Yep...
"Our Armed Services have performed brilliantly in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Moving a massive force over 200 miles of enemy territory in a matter of days is a superb achievement. Yet there is work ahead for our coalition, for the American Armed Forces, and for the United States Marines. Having traveled hundreds of miles, we will now go the last 200 yards. (Applause.) The course is set. We're on the advance. Our destination is Baghdad, and we will accept nothing less than complete and final victory. (Applause.) "

Senate, House OK Nearly $80B War Budget
Friday April 4, 2003 8:40 AM
WASHINGTON (AP) - Moving with a sense of wartime urgency, the House and Senate separately agreed to give President Bush nearly $80 billion to carry out the battle against Iraq and meet the threat of terrorism.
At the same time, lawmakers acceded to a White House request to refrain from punishing Turkey for its anti-war stance. However, they sought to restrict France and other U.S. critics from helping rebuild Iraq.
