Disagree.

We don't KNOW that he's "worm food," though we might suspect it.

This question has been answered multiple times by Sec. Rumsfeld: The death of one man is NOT the death of the regime (obviously). We are after displacing this regime, not killing one guy.

You and I know that....but the aforementioned, the peaceniks, and everyone else who'll try to get us out of there early don't realize it.

Of course. I think the one major miscalculation many outside of those involved in "the plan" made was that the Baathists could not operate without Saddam. They can't run a serious military operation, but they can rape, pillage and generally be cowardly savages, which is what much of the Iraqi "resistance" has been.

One seems to forget what a totalitarian regime is capable of with a degraded command and control. The ghoulish Baathist state in Iraq is a place the Stalin of June-August 1941 would be comfortable in. Saddam, dead or alive, unleashed thousands of (according to an NBC embed report) Syrian and Palestinian assholes upon Iraq and our soldiers who answer to only their deepest, darkest obsessions. Also, there are a number of senior Iraqi officials who have nothing to lose and for reasons known only to themselves are using this conflict to keep what should be dead, alive.

I personally believe Saddam is in Hell with his 72 Rachel Corries. What finally decided it for me was when RG units were pulled from his precious hometown of Tikrit.
