Do you think she SHOULD have been shot? Is that what you're saying? Or are you saying that an American soldier who survived over a week in an Iraqi hell hole while having her arms, legs, and back broken isn't enough to merit our sympathy and admiration?

Not at all. In fact, she deserves the admiration of us all for simply surviving what many of us would have succumbed to.

What I'm saying is that when the original report from the Washington Post came out as to how she allegedly fought off her captors, killing some, until she ran out of ammo, many were hailing her as a "hero" and ready to pin the Congressional Medal of Honor on her before the facts surfaced.

She has been painted in a light different and far more brilliant from every other soldier who has died or has been injured simply because she is a woman.

And you know the Washington Post story is wrong exactly how? What if they are correct? Bottom line is: you don't know. None of us know. We should withhold judgment until we do know.

The mass hysteria and Congressional Medal honors did it for me.

She was tough to survive, but she was able to because of the color of her hair.

do you remember the American pilot who was shot down in Bosnia, and hide out for some time and then was able to signal the Americans who then came and rescued him....was it Scott OGrady?

I remember then that there were folks on FR who criticized him for being shot down, etc etc...

this it the same old crap....

women do seem to be treated differantly...every thing this girl had done or endured is being questioned....You wouldn't do it if this was a guy..

I can't understand the venom that people have towards this girl........maybe its just envy....
