I paused just now on LKL and Bob Schieffer is singing the praises of embedded reporters. LK said Walter Cronkite was a recent guest and liked the idea, but not the term "embed" as it can be construed as "in bed". Schieffer said he's a big fan of Cronkite's (get OVER it, Bob) but he disagreed with nitpicking the term or any criticism of it at all.
He also volunteered that he'd heard the criticism about the embeds' inability to report the "big picture". Bob Schieffer correctly (imo) stated they are giving a truthful and accurate up close account of what is really happening.
He praised the tone and the demeanor of the imbedded reporters. I agree.
