Slavery in Saudia Arabia was legal, encouraged, and active until 1962. Slavery is still practiced illegally throughout the backwaters of Africa in Islamic states, but I think everybody in the Mideast has prohibited it.

But I've never heard gambling mentioned!

No, as far I know, it is a little strange because they just held the Dubai World Cup 3/29 and can't place any bets at that track. Of course it doesn't stop other tracks from taking bets.
