The inevitable effect of other govt.s trying to cut a deal with Saddam's regime is to try to give hope to Saddam's regime. There will be no deal, it doesn't matter who proposes it, it will not be done.

I wasn't sugesting anyone was cutting deals.
What I meant was that it appears that the further North the Allies go they seem to be getting a better reception, in comparison to the South.
The reason, I surmised was that it may be due to what happened in the South. In that they rebelled in '91, were let down by the Allies and then subjected to heavier repression.
Where as the peoples closer to Baghdad have not had such a similar experience and just as they hate Sodemite, they do not have the emotinal scars of '91, hence the warmer welcome.
