First person account of shootdown.
I checked my fraternity message board this am because one of my younger fraternity brothers flies F-18's off the Kitty Hawk (he's a Cornell University Psi Upsilon, so liberal Ithacans can shove it). Many of us were concerned it was him but here is all he could say about it. He implies he was a wingman. Scary.

The President will be visiting families of those killed in action today at Camp Lejeune. I hope they find that pilot alive.God bless them.
