J I loved Gen. Myers response to the question about John Kerry's comments - they know what's at stake, the importance of their mission, doesn't matter what other's say. (Kerry=irrelevant). Not bad words to live by.

I believe that five star ranks are reserved for wartime... I'm pretty sure that the last five-star was Eisenhower. It is not a "normal" rank that can be worked up to. Franks, Myers and those guys are at the top of the food chain and there's nowhere to go rank-wise for them now.
It is a specially created rank for unique situations, like the Supreme Allied Command for WWII.
