News from southern Iraq:
Iraqis loot Ali's palaceA palace that housed the man dubbed Chemical Ali for his role in gas attacks on northern Iraq during the offensive against the Kurds in 1987 has been looted by the people he used to govern.

You betcha. Very stealthy, too. Of course, if he wants the thread to be All About Him, I doubt if he's succeeded. From this point on, I'm ignoring him.

Major Garrett just reported we now have 9,000 EPW...double yesterday's total! The newsies are skeptical. They want proof, video.

The road into Baghdad is too easy. Now comes the bunching up and chems. Could be that "now comes the bunching up." But if that was the plan, it would occur whether we took 2 weeks to get to Baghdad, or 2 months.
As for "too easy," that's a perception we have based on news reports and not being there. My take it that this has been a huge, difficult effort, with some conflicting objectives, and that the coalition has done a very good job so far. I trust the military leadership to continue to exercise good judgement.

Thanks for the civil response.
I didn't mean to offend with the chit-chat remark. I love disussions where you can go off on a tangent. It makes for great conversation.
I view this thread more as the switching back and forth between 2 TV channels trying to hear as much as possible. When that is going on, I don't talk or discuss, I try to listen as much as possible and keep the remarks directly related to what has just been said.
Think of it as watching 2 football games and after a food commercial, your wife and mother-in-law start trying to discuss the grocery list with each other across the room.
Personal preference, to some extent, I guess. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Back to news monitoring.

Soccer in Umm Khayall...
That's the best news of the day. Is this count as an international friendly match for the Iraqis.

NPR (yeah, I know) reporter says she saw large numbers of persons listening to shortwave reports all around Baghdad today; they know that we have arrived.
She indicated that the western and southern exits from the city have been blocked by the regime.
