I went to a scum protest against Bush/Simon during the 2002 campaign. One of the first guys I talked to was a kid of about college age with a sign -- NO BLOOD FOR OIL. I asked him how he got to this event. "Well, okay. You've got me. I'm a hypocrite. I drove my car here." It was a refreshing admission.

I have a family member who shall remain nameless. We were discussing drilling in ANWR one night and he told me he opposed it. He drives has a pick-up and an SUV, BTW. I asked why he opposed drilling and he said for environmental reasons. Then I said, so it's perfectly fine for another nation to risk fouling its own environment (according to him) to sell us oil while we refuse to do it. He said he'd never thought of it that way before. Then he changed the subject. Sigh...
