They think that our average IQ is the same as the average Iraqi IQ - i.e., room temp. Actually, I shouldn't say that, since Iraqis aren't uneducable idiots. But they HAVE been robbed over the decades of any impetus toward rational analysis, which makes them ACT like slavish idiots. Actually, this is just for the Arab Street, many of whom ARE of diminished capacity.

They do think we are stupid. And many that I've met are indeed NOT very smart. I'm an engineer, and went to school many years ago with a lot of Middle-Eastern types. The great majority (with a few wonderful, friendly, great people exceptions), had the worst case of un-deserved arrogance I've ever seen. Humility is almost unheard of.

"Cocky" and "condescending" don't really describe some of the things I've experienced. One rich Lebanese fellow actually expected me to hand over my homework to him so he could "check his answers". I offered to sit down with him and go over his work, but he insisted (as he tried to wrest my paper from me) that I just give my homework to him.
