You are right and they already are. Hutchison-Whampoa
also partly owned by the PLA and is somehow tied with
China Ocean Shipping Co. (COSCO) - also partly owned
by the PLA. Hutchison controls either end of the Canal,
and as I understand they or COSCO have a base in Cuba too.
Hutchison-Whampoa is also the company trying to buy the
majority of Global Crossing. Remember that one? Terry
McAuliffe(?) made $18 million on $100K. He's still
chairman of the DNC.
