2 members of the 101st were killed by snipers. Oh, Lord, I hope it wasn't because of Geraldo's giving too much info on air about the 101st's position!

Oh, Lord.

We shall soon see. MSNBC is still reporting it like it was brought down off the mountain on tablets.

Your comments add little or nothing to the discussion, and I really wish you would restrict your comments to what kind of information from embedded is appropriate, and whether Geraldo crossed that line, and refrain from snarking at those whose opinions you find distasteful.

And perhaps some of us find it distasteful to insinuate that Geraldo and FOX were responsible for the deaths of two GI's.

And what part of that do you not understand.

If your desire was to chase me off this thread, you have just achieved some satisfaction. Do have a nice day.

No, I'm not sure when the briefing is. It's usually in the early afternoon, east coast time.

I don't want to overlook FOX -- but I think the expectation for them to be on our side 100% of the time is a bit much. They are on our side more than not -- which is 180 degrees than any other network.

If a FOX reporter does an Arnett then he should be fired and tried for treason. Gerlado didn't do an Arnett. He didn't even give out too much information according to the military. For all we know the military asked him to do it and give the wrong idea to the enemy.

I trust the military to get rid of people if they screw up -- and Geraldo is still there -- so what does that tell you?

Thanks. It seems there may be a bit of intrigue with Reuters and their named sources. Let's see what happens.

Well...one thing: people on THIS site thought Geraldo was the lowest while he was on MSNBC and had his other show. When he switched to Fox I think a lot of folks thought he had suddenly changed his basic professional character. He wanted to do more serious stuff than his typical cable confrontation show (all the news channels now do these) so he went out in the field. After a month or two, people who used to consider Geraldo an enemy of the people because he didn't like Ken Starr, etc. Then he goes to Fox and suddently he's a great guy. The fundemental way he OPERATES never changed. He is not the most responsible or level headed journalist. And because he's on Fox and supports the war does not negate his fundamental professional flaws. If he gets a pass on this, something will arise again in a year or so. It is a pattern.

Editing? Care to elaborate?

I wasn't out there on the "Z" with the Big Red One (1st Infantry) but was up that way a few times and met plenty of the guys who were; these reports were quite well known about in theater at the time, and I have left out a lot of the details.

I really don't know if the NK forces have maintained this sort of intel or not over the last 30 years; you'd have to check with someone stationed over there now.

I do know that they had a reputation not only for insane savagely, but for a ruthless cunning seldom matched in the history of warfare.

Maybe he was given permission to give out the info for some reason unknown to us back home generals.
Anyway, I am no fan of Geraldo but I am glad his ouster was not true because I would not like for Fox to look bad, after all, they are the only (to my knowledge) news outlet to give us a pro american view.

Celebrity TV journalist Geraldo Rivera kicked out of Iraq: Pentagon
24 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Celebrity television journalist Geraldo Rivera, who has been on assignment covering the US-led war in Iraq (news - web sites), has been told by US military officials that he is no longer welcome to accompany US troops there.
"I can confirm that it has been done," said military spokesman Navy Lieutenant Commander Charles Owens on Monday, contacted at Central Command headquarters in Qatar.

Owens said Rivera, a star of the Fox News television network, was not embedded with troops, but had been "asked to leave the unit he was with."

Military officials were short on details about reasons for Rivera's dismissal, but according to US news reports, Rivera was told to leave Iraq after an on-air appearance during which he drew a map in the sand revealing information about US troop locations.
