Read your own post. My first thought on hearing about Geraldo was to wonder if his "infraction" was deliberate disinformation. I dont think there are any "facts" available right now except that Fox is reporting that he is broadcasting live. No problem with 'perhapsing' unless it is counter to live reports. FOX and Geraldo said LIVE that it was just a rumor. They dissed MSNBC big time for it. Geraldo said he was deeper into Iraq than previously.

Agree.
I don't think this is quite over yet..See post #500 from Reuters...their source is not cnn..it is a named pentagon OFFICIAL Bryan______...didn't catch the last name.

See Post 500. Is the Pentagon lying, or is Reuters? Or has word not filtered down to Geraldo himself? Still sticking with the story. One of us will have to eat crow.

I haven't taken a position either way on the matter. All I'm interested in is learning the truth.
I think it's hilarious that Rivera was trashing the other networks.

"He was with a (U.S.) military unit in the field and the commander felt that he had compromised operational information by reporting the position and movements of troops," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman told Reuters. "The commander thought it best to get the reporter out of his battle space and we understand he is being removed from Iraq," Whitman said.
It will be interesting to see what the named source has to say about all of this back and forth...... Seems Reuters has a source and has so named him....

Veteran reporter Geraldo Rivera, a correspondent for Fox News, is being removed from Iraq by the U.S. military for reporting Western troop movements in the war, the Pentagon said on Monday.
Well, this is most interesting. Named sources and everything.
This will be something to watch, as it wasn't only Geraldo outright naming MSNBC as the source of the lie, and calling it an outright lie, but David Asman back in studio.
Yes, something to watch.

Or has word not filtered down to Geraldo himself? It would have to be more than Geraldo. If Reuters is right, Fox is in the dark, because David Asman joined in the mocking of this story as well.
Fascinating, whichever way it shakes out.

Reuters. Aren't they the ones that banned the word "terrorist" from their reports stating that one man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter?

Reuters. Aren't they the ones that banned the word "terrorist" from their reports stating that one man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter? Yes. And my temptation is to dismiss it due to their ill-concealed bias. However, they name names. It is almost too much to hope that they would get caught lying, too, wouldn't it?
And to be honest, I think it is too much to hope for. It would be a black eye for Fox--in studio and Geraldo--to be calling a story a lie that has the Pentagon speaking out.
Well, as I type Asman replays his Geraldo piece from earlier.

You did not see the live coverage of the Geralado Rumor on FOX? and the comments made by Geraldo toward MSNBC as pathetic and not unusual?
Someone knew how to carefully place the story. FR was one of the first places. GERALDO:"Some rats at my former network ..and THEY can't compete on the battlefield." Anything they are saying is a pack of lies(MSNBC)...ABSOLUTE LIE."" I am further into Iraq then I was."
END OF STORY!
Business as usual.

I should have added "in my humble opinion", of course. Last time I checked, I am entitled to one, as are you. We can all have an opinion but it should be an informed opinion.

"I'm "saddened" that he screwed up."
This is the same thing that Columbia U. is saying about their Anthropology professor Di Genova. They are deeply saddened that so many have harrassed them because of what Di Genova said.

LOL, your pic of Geraldo's handler!
As much as Geraldo's ego gets the best of him at times, I'm glad this was all a rumour. Bad CNN! That's another reason to stick with FNC.
BTW, how long will FNC be able to air 24/7 without commercials?
