Oh, I'm dying here!

Maybe he was given permission to give out the info for some reason unknown to us back home generals.
Anyway, I am no fan of Geraldo but I am glad his ouster was not true because I would not like for Fox to look bad, after all, they are the only (to my knowledge) news outlet to give us an unbias view.

I can't wait to hear his excuse. I can't wait to hear your apology.

Geraldo if a self aggrandizing maniac and a danger to OUR TROOPS. Has it occurred to you that the 101st wouldn't let Geraldo tag along if that were the case? Has it occurred to you that everything he says is approved by the military commanders he's imbedded with? People jumped the gun on ole Jerry, and egg on face is the order of the day.

Don't pick on Shep.
Hey, be easy on this one. How many hours has Shep been on the air this past week, and week-end?
He's doing a great job with the interviews - and staying awake!
GO SHEP!!

Geraldo haters should consider the job he did on O.J.Simpson. He gave Ann Coulter a lot of sympathetic air time, not to mention several other conservatives. And Condidit.

I did give him a break, and so did I give Greta a chance. I watched his reporting last night, and he gave way more info than he should have, and more, in my opinion, than the "consultant generals" with the screen writers.
Just because Fox is better than the others, doesn't mean we cut them slack when they mess up.
I remember when my kids demanded I cut them some slack for some infraction of the rules when they were teenagers. Their argument was that they were good students, didn't get in trouble, and we were lucky to have such decent kids compared to what they could be like... yada, yada!
They still got the parental lectures, and grounded. We expected them to live up to certain standards, and that was that. I expect Fox to live up to certain standards, and feel that it is appropriate to call a journalist when he slips over the line.
I guess we are arguing over where the line should be, for I will not cut Fox slack just because they are better than NBC and CNN.

Does this mean that FOX will cancel Geraldos upcoming special, The Search for Saddams Vault?

CNN has a series problem quoting mis-information or coming out in print with totally false info. This is Hugh...

He had lost some 70 friends in the twin towers, and his whole outlook had changed. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. We'll see how he does. I believe he's sincere in his changed views....it may have been the first time death stared him in the face and made an long-lasting impression on him.
To: js1138
Perhaps he was removed from the Baghdad front, or from anywhere he might compromise strategy. Perhaps you should stick to the facts and quit "perhapsing".

Watch..this will trun out to be a "dirty trick" started by a few of the intelligence NCO's in the unit..they thought that if they got Geraldo ashcanned, Fox might send out either Lauire, or Patti Ann, or Kirin ias a replacement...The boys just want to get "embedded"

Okay, Mike Gallagher is talking about how some callers said Matt Lauer was supporting Peter Arnett this morning--let's move onto a Matt Lauer bashing thread now. I'm getting bored with this one. I won't be happy until I see Matt Lauer's head on a stick! And put Katie Couric's head on one too just for being in the vicinity--she's had it coming for a long time!

Amen. Geraldo (even with his baggage which is enormous) gets genuinely excited in his supprt for the troops. I appreciate that.
If he did almost get yanked last night, I hope he's learned his lesson. For now, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Folks need to think what it would be like if it were only the Big 3 and CNN. Man, those days seem pretty ruff from my timeframe.

The bottom line is that according to Geraldo and FOX the story is wrong. Why would CENTCOM tell CNN before telling FOX?

I don't believe it. These were tapes made by FOX before he was yanked. It is all just propaganda. All FReepers should tune into MSNBC for the truth HaHa! That wasn't Geraldo just now on Fox denying that he was yanked; that was one of Geraldo's many doubles. ;-)

Many sound more like DU caliber comments.I agree, and it seems as though MANY here are just waiting for some on FOX NEWS to screw up so they can say "SEE I TOLD YOU SO". I can understand the 'anger' at Geraldo for past deeds but what has that to do with Shep and Brett etc. The attack was on and it was leading to FOX BASHING that I had never seen on FR before. Now it seems the REPORT on Geraldo's expulsion has been greatly exaggerated! This thread exposed some on FR I would say.

Reuters is still sticking with this story:
Military Moves Reporter Geraldo Rivera from Iraq
Mon March 31, 2003 11:53 AM ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Veteran reporter Geraldo Rivera, a correspondent for Fox News, is being removed from Iraq by the U.S. military for reporting Western troop movements in the war, the Pentagon said on Monday. "He was with a (U.S.) military unit in the field and the commander felt that he had compromised operational information by reporting the position and movements of troops," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman told Reuters.
"The commander thought it best to get the reporter out of his battle space and we understand he is being removed from Iraq," Whitman said.
Fox News in New York had no immediate comment, and Whitman said he did not have details of the incident.
But media reports said Rivera, a former talk show host and veteran correspondent who has also reported the war in Afghanistan and high-profile stories such as the O.J. Simpson murder trial, had been with a unit of the 101st Airborne Division when the incident occurred.
