Kudos to John Gibson, FOX News Network for bringing the actions of Benedict Arnett to light.

Arnett said it was clear that there was growing opposition to the war within the United States and a growing challenge to President Bush.

Of course, the exact opposite is demonstrably true. Every day, more Americans have been awakened to the true threat, and every day, the communist agitator's strength has waned.

Be alert to continued NBC/MSNBC reports citing "sources in Baghdad." Could be Arnett will be working out the rest of his contract as an unnamed source.

March 31 -- Peter Arnett apologizes for the interview he gave to Iraqi TV, saying he made a "stupid misjudgement."

MSNBC was still showing his picture this morning - in a promo. They, of course, didn't mention his name, although it was on the screen.

Question; Did MSNBC replay any of the interview? I've only seen it on Fox News.

NBC Severs Its Ties With Journalist Peter Arnett After Interview With State-Run Iraqi TV By David Bauder Associated Press Writer Published: Mar 31, 2003

NEW YORK (AP) - NBC fired journalist Peter Arnett on Monday, saying it was wrong for him to give an interview with state-run Iraqi TV saying that the American-led coalition's first war plan had failed because of Iraq's resistance. Arnett himself called the interview a "misjudgment." Arnett, on NBC's "Today" show on Monday, said he was sorry for his statement but added, "I said over the weekend what we all know about the war."

"I want to apologize to the American people for clearly making a misjudgment," Arnett said.

NBC had defended him on Sunday, saying he had given the interview as a professional courtesy and that his remarks were analytical in nature. But by Monday morning the network switched course and, after Arnett spoke with NBC News President Neal Shapiro, said it would no longer work with Arnett.

"It was wrong for Mr. Arnett to grant an interview to state-controlled Iraqi TV, especially at a time of war," NBC spokeswoman Allison Gollust said. "And it was wrong for him to discuss his personal observations and opinions in that interview."

Arnett, who won a Pulitzer Prize reporting in Vietnam for The Associated Press, garnered much of his prominence from covering the 1991 Gulf War for CNN. One of the few American television reporters left in Baghdad, his reports were frequently aired on NBC and its cable sisters, MSNBC and CNBC.

The question is why did NBC hire Peter Arnett. Even CNN knew what Peter Arnett was doing years ago when they fired him.

How Anti-American does a reporter have to be to get fired by CNN? How Anti-American does a reporter have to be before before NBC refuses to hire him?

Make no mistake Kouric, Brokaw and many others at NBC are not very different from Arnett. They hold similar views. They are just a bit smarter. But if they felt they could get away with it they would express similar views to Arnetts on Nightly news and the Today show. In the last 7 days they have used puppets to express similar views on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC.

NBC has fired Peter Arnett not for what he said, but for getting caught saying it. If it were not for the Internet and Fox, Peter would still be with NBC.

WOW a response from Shapiro himself and the words he used about a reporter giving an interview are about the same exact words I used in an e-mail to him.

Also told him I prayed for Divine swift justice for all of them for allowing such trash to be presented as news.

Guess I should send him a thank you.

More background:

The Fascist Left During the 1930s and 1940s

AMERICAN BOLSHEVIKS DURING THE 1930S AND 1940S sought to turn the USA into the USSA. With slogans of brotherhood and justice, these individuals would have supplanted the American Way with Marxian dogma.

But Stalinists in America weren't the only subversive group during this period. While these anti-Americans aspired to a dictatorship of the proletariat (or the vanguard thereof), other anti-Americans aspired to a dictatorship of race in which pigment would determine one's freedom. The latter, borrowing Paul Johnson and David Horowitz's phrase, constitute the Fascist Left.

The modern version of this:

The Islamofacist Left.

The other reporters left Baghdad for safety concerns. How was it that Arnett felt no such concern? Sounds embedded to me!
