The question is why did NBC hire Peter Arnett. Even CNN knew what Peter Arnett was doing years ago when they fired him.
How Anti-American does a reporter have to be to get fired by CNN? How Anti-American does a reporter have to be before before NBC refuses to hire him?
Make no mistake Kouric, Brokaw and many others at NBC are not very different from Arnett. They hold similar views. They are just a bit smarter. But if they felt they could get away with it they would express similar views to Arnetts on Nightly news and the Today show. In the last 7 days they have used puppets to express similar views on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC.
NBC has fired Peter Arnett not for what he said, but for getting caught saying it. If it were not for the Internet and Fox, Peter would still be with NBC.

Arnett was also the on-air reporter of a 1998 CNN report that accused U.S. forces of using sarin gas on a Laotian village in 1970 to kill U.S. defectors. Two CNN employees were sacked, and Arnett was reprimanded over the report, which the station later retracted. Arnett later left the network.sounds like arnett would be a perfect fit to resurface as press secretary for the Hillary '04 campaign.

One is left to wonder why, having "fired" Arnett, NBC
turns around and books him to appear on the Today show.

Make no mistake Kouric, Brokaw and many others at NBC are not very different from Arnett.Add Matt Lauer, who said at the end of this morning's interview: "At the risk of getting in trouble, Peter, I want to say I respect the work you've done. I respect your honesty."
Treason envy?
