Does anyone know if the river is usable for transport in southern Iraq?

I don't mean just has it been secured, I mean is it deep and wide enough?

The river Tig. is easily wide enough for barge traffic but silt problems due to desert conditions would require frequent dredging. Only small boat traffic is currently used I believe.
