Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Didn't catch his name. He seemed to be saying that it was an erroneous position, but it was their position, nonetheless.

Even in Japan, there was a bureaucracy made up of locals that carried out MacArthur's policies. Ok, I can see that point ... but make them LOCALS (people that absolutely understand Saddam's horrors) ... not the leeches that fled the country and want to come back to possibly enjoy the riches paid for with OUR BLOOD.

This group has been around for a while. I think I remember reading that Gore met with them back when he was somebody.

Lots of disinformation getting out there these days.
Keep in mind that article I referred to earlier. The WashPost reported just before the war about "Operation Messenger", described as the administration's rapid-response team for the duration of the conflict. There are 100's of staff monitoring media reports all over the world. They instantly correct a story if it's wrong, but they also get out the message they want through the media.
(Remember on A-Day: the bombing started and, within minutes, a few reporters were quoting the Pentagon, "This is Shock and Awe".)
I've been amazed that we haven't heard more reporting about this. Anyway. When an article is getting big "play", I wait for the Pentagon reporters to come on and tell us, "Pentagon sources say......".

people that absolutely understand Saddam's horrors As I understand it, that's what the INC is. The leadership is made up of people who have been directly persecuted, or have close family who's been persecuted by Saddam.
To: Mr.Crimson
Who is this "Gore" person to whom you refer? The name seems vaugely familiar.

He's not really saying anything new. Just reporting the feelings among the troops. They're holding their position for now.
CNN, Art Harris embed with 3rr Bat/2nd Marines. Cobra Gunships pounding enemy positions along Euphrates River. Looking for targets of opportunity.
So much for the timeout.

And just how the heck DOES one spell "vaguely" anyway?
