Brooks knows what going on, its just that this jag from the media thinks he is entitled to a briefing from President Bush each day.

IIRC Brooks was the first black to make First Captain at West Point, the highest cadet rank possible at the trade school.

His brother is also a General officer.

His father is also a General officer and Commandant of the United States Military Academy at West Point.

I think Brooks should be nominated for a medal for the hazardous duty he must face everyday. I'm sure he'd rather face the enemy on the frontline rather than the enemy in the press room.

As for the quality of the material as compared to embedded reporters, well of course the guys on the line are more interesting, but there is stuff that comes out of CENTCOM that is valuable stuff to report....not that these guys would be accurate.

The most interesting offshoot of this war is that the American public is seeing firsthand that there is media bias and they don't like it. The media, rather than listen to this and adjust is making a big mistake....they are becoming more and more arrogant by the minute. Well guess what? People vote with their feet and fingers...they will turn biased media off once they see (or smell) it!

If I were General Brooks, I would have said the following to Wolff:

Mr. Wolff, sorry you think the information you are receiving here is limited or unsatisfactory. I can fix that for you in one minute. I will give you two choices. Following this briefing, I will have my aide, Lt. Smith, arrange for you to be issued the appropriate gear, and then 1/2 hour from now, you will be helicoptered to join a British SAS recon squad, which is operating a little closer to Baghdad than our front lines. I think you will find plenty to write about up there.

Either that, or Lt. Smith will arrange for your immediate transportation back to New York.

Hey True, He we have another black man rising to the top of his profession. If you listened to the Asan Akbar a black man can't have any success in the military. Gen Brooks looks to be a West Point graduate and he is pretty young looking for a 1 star. I would say he is on the fast track. Now as for that little pusnut, diplodi*k, maggot. I think R Lee Ermey should be up there with the General.
